ALEX JACOBOWITZ ....was born in New York in 1960.
Although he had to learn to play all percussion instruments while studying at the Eastman School of Music in New York, he fell in love only with the special sound of the xylophone. He then asked his professor what would be necessary to become a world-class xylophonist. His professor laughed: "there is no such thing!"
Exactly then, Alex decided to become such a thing. In 1981 he received first prize at the DCI Individual Keyboard Competition in Montreal. After one year with the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, he left behind the life of an orchestra musician, and since then he performs as a xylophone artist around the world.
